We met as sophomores attending California State University Monterey Bay (Go Otters!) in a Spanish class in the fall semester of 2013. Little did we know that attending that class would bring us together, sealing our fate as college sweethearts. College was not easy, but we got through it all as each other’s cheerleaders and #1 supporters—from presentations, exams, all-nighters, and especially during junior year while Rosa studied abroad in Madrid.
In 2016, we graduated from college and embarked on a new chapter—college graduates in the real world trying to figure it all out. Since we only had the weekends to hang out and go on dates, we would spend them together exploring the East and North Bay. We also traveled together, going to Mexico, Denmark, and the UK. In 2019, Luca and Rosa traveled to Tarandacuao and met her extended family (all 70+ family members!).
Tired of living in a “long-distance relationship” (Oakland to Larkspur is a trek, especially dealing with Bay Area traffic!), we moved in together in January 2020. Two months later, the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the world, forcing us to stay home and spend a lot more time together than we had originally expected! Through it all, we managed to still like and love each other, culminating in Luca getting down on one knee and proposing at our tree in Montclair Park in November 2021. Spoiler alert: Rosa said yes!
10 years have gone by in a flash, and we are so excited to have you celebrate our love journey with us and start this new phase of life as husband and wife.
